June 13, 2010: Bubble Do Beatles Unplugged
Bubble is an original indie pop band from NYC. They were founded in 1994 by songwriter Dave Foster and drummer/producer Tom DeVito. In 2005 Bubble performed the Beatles “Revolver” for classic Album night at Arlene’s Grocery. It was so much fun Bubble decided to perform Beatles music for adults and their children. “Bubble Do Beatles” was born.
July 18, 2010: Randy Kaplan
In his songs for children and their families, Randy Kaplan blends American Roots, Country Blues, and Comedic Storytelling. “He doesn’t dumb it down for the kids… He just expects them to come along for the ride. And they do” (TIME OUT NEW YORK KIDS). Randy started his children’s music career in Park Slope, Brooklyn, where he was a music teacher at Beansprouts preschool. He now lives in Los Angeles, California. Randy has released three not-JUST-for-kids albums so far, including the recently issued THE KIDS ARE ALL ID, FIVE CENT PIECE (2006), and LOQUAT ROOFTOP (2008), which appeared on many national Top Ten lists, notably that of National Public Radio. Randy’s SIRIUS-XM Radio hit “No Nothing” was nominated for Best Children’s Song of the year by JUST PLAIN FOLKS, and MINDSMACK TV created an animated video for “The Ladybug Without Spots,” which can be viewed on Randy’s YouTube channel. THE KIDS ARE ALL ID features all-time classics like“Forever Young” (by Bob Dylan) and “The Derby Ram” (George Washington’s favorite folk song) along with original songs like The Hebrew-Speaking Bear (based on a true story) and “The Kid Is All Id” (brush up on your Freud, this kid is not ‘alright’). August 4, 2010: Uncle Rock
Uncle Rock is singer-songwriter, actor, teacher and former stay-at-home dad Robert Burke Warren. His “Rock Of All Ages” songs draw inspiration from Maurice Sendak, Woody Guthrie and Shel Silverstein - with a bit of classic rock thrown in. He has received raves from the NY Times, the NY Post, LA Times and Parenting magazine and is a mainstay on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio and Pandora. Listen to Secret Spaceman.
September 19, 2010: Audra Rox
Audra Rox, crowned by Time Out NY Kids as the “Queen of the NY Kids Rock Scene,” has been crafting catchy, smart rock music for cool kids for over 11 years. She can be seen on Noggin’s Jack’s Big Music Show and has a new song on the current “Being Green” Sesame Street DVD. Her bestselling debut CD “I Can Do It By Myself” – now a must-have classic – has been followed up by a new CD, “Too Much Fun,” produced by Marty Beller, drummer for They Might Be Giants.
